Reporting to the Director of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI), the Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) serves as the primary point of contact for the University of Memphis fraternity and sorority community. This position ensures alignment with the University Strategic Plan by strengthening student satisfaction, fostering belonging, and reinvigorating a core component of campus life. The Assistant Director will lead efforts around risk reduction, member education, and alumni engagement.
The Assistant Director directly addresses challenges facing the FSL community through the supervision of staff, coordination of educational initiatives on membership recruitment and new member education, and enhancement of the initiated member experience. The position provides direct advising to governing councils—including the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council (PHC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)—and oversees chapter coaching to promote accountability and excellence.
The Assistant Director works closely with chapter and council leaders to design and implement programming that strengthens the fraternal experience and promotes a positive image of the University of Memphis. The position also supports the planning and implementation of leadership development and educational programs for the fraternity and sorority community and assists with various SLI-sponsored events and initiatives.
